Hampstead Heath is the second largest park in London (after Richmond), with so many things to do across its 790 acres. 11. Parliament Hill
With one of the best views of the London skyline, Hampstead Heath’s Parliament Hill is a popular spot for weekend walkers and sunset chasers. From The Shard to the architectural icons of the city, play ‘Where’s Wally’ with some of London’s most iconic buildings. And even though the climb is difficult, the spectacular view from this south-east corner of the park more than makes up for it.
12. Hampstead Heath Swimming Ponds
Popular throughout the summer (although open all-year round), the Swimming Ponds of Hampstead Heath are a great way to cool off in the warmer months. There are also great benefits to cold-water swimming and people visit for a dip throughout autumn, winter, and spring, too! There’s a mixed pond, the ladies’ pond, and the men’s pond, and booking is advised throughout the summer. The mixed pond is located on the Hampstead side of the heath, while the ladies’ and men’s ponds are located on the Highgate side.
13. Hampstead Pergola
Although located in Golders Hill Park, this additional green space is located right next door to Hampstead Heath, providing fantastic views of both the village and its lush surrounding areas. However, it’s the Hampstead Pergola located inside which is the real hidden gem. The over-grown terrace is a great spot for taking some lovely pictures, as well as exploring its hidden corners. 14. Parliament Hill Lido
Another amazing option for swimmers here in London, the Parliament Hill Lido is an ideal place to get some lengths in. The beloved lido first opened back in 1938 and is now open to the public 365 days a year. Also, with rising gym membership prices and swanky classes taking over the fitness world, it’s great for some budget-friendly exercise.

19. 2 Willow Road
Now taking a complete shift, 2 Willow Road is one of London’s lesser-known museums. It’s located inside one of the most influential buildings in modernist architecture, with the pre-brutalist beauty built back in 1939 by Ernő Goldfinger. Check out its original design with some artefacts and intriguing personal possessions. There’s even some 20th-century art on display to reflect on the times.
